Pilates after Fifty

As we age our bodies become less flexible, joints begin to hurt, backs become stiff. Activities that we have alway done, now cause pain or just seem more difficult. Your core muscles are key to stopping this progression. Pilates addresses the stiffness and the joint pain by strengthening the body from the inside out. We address the loss of flexibility in your spine and increase your range of motion throughout your body. We look at your alignment to correct problem areas affecting your walking stance. Pilates is non-impacting in the joints and a perfect exercise for those suffering from arthritis.

New! Virtual Mat Classes

Penelope Barrow is pleased to offer virtual livestream mat classes as of August 1. Mat classes will be offered on an ongoing basis and are leveled. All you need is a mat and space to move!

Classical Mat Challenge

A 50 minute, fast paced mat working through the intermediate mat syllabus. Prior Pilates training is required. A mat, magic circle and 2 or 3lb weights are recommended.
